WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Gettysburg College women's swimming team moved its season record to 5-0 with a 54-22 victory at McDaniel College Wednesday night.
Gettysburg (5-0, 4-0 CC) won seven of eight events before finishing out the meet with a pair of exhibition races. McDaniel (0-3, 0-3 CC) claimed the top spot in the 100 back.
The Bullets opened the contest by having freshmen
Megan Wojnar (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) and
Katie Jenkins (Bow, N.H./Bow) team up with seniors
Johnna Hock (Timonium, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) and
Lindsay Hayden (Enfield, Conn./Suffield Academy) for a victory in the 200 medley relay (1:56.15).
Wojnar and Jenkins each posted wins in individual events as well. Wojnar gained a big advantage in the backstroke leg of the 400 IM and cruised to a 12-second victory with a time of 4:46.03. Jenkins touched the wall first in the 100 fly with a time of 1:01.06.
Freshman
Katie Cooper (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) posted a pair of wins, first taking the top spot in the 50 free (25.36) and finishing first in the 100 free (55.27).
Junior
Kate Crilly (Shrewsbury, N.J./Ranney School) remained unbeaten in duals this year with a more than five-second victory in the 200 free (1:58.95).
Senior
Maggie Morehouse (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) rounded out the official first-place finishers with an eight-second win in the 500 free (5:30.53).
Hock was the top performer in an exhibition of the 100 breaststroke, slicing her way through the water for a time of 1:11.44. Crilly, Hayden, freshman
Tess Kasunic (Germantown, Md./Northwest), and Cooper closed the meet with a time of 1:43.69 in an exhibition of the 200 free relay.
Gettysburg hosts No. 18 Ursinus College this Saturday at 1 p.m.
