GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College men's track and field team displayed strong top showings at Shippensburg University's Paul Kaiser Classic on Saturday.
Junior
Sam Sheldon (Tully, N.Y./Tully), senior
Alex Petrecca (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde), and sophomore
Dylan McKeever (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks East) all registered runner-up finishes to pace the Bullets. Sheldon placed second, the best by a Division III athlete, in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:04.68), Petrecca tallied second out of 45 competitors in the 1,500-meter run (4:04.01), and McKeever collected second out of 22 athletes in the 3,000-meter run, clocking the third fastest outdoor time at Gettysburg with 8:57.67.
Other top finishes on the track include, senior
Thad Cwiklinski (Glen Rock, Pa./York Catholic), who claimed fourth-place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.71 and sophomore
Nicholas Grissinger (Palmyra, Pa./Milton Hershey), who took eighth in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking 57.45.
On the field, freshman
Matthew Brown (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) took eighth in the javelin (163-1).
Gettysburg returns to the track May 3-5 for the Centennial Conference Championships, hosted by Muhlenberg College.
