Women's Lacrosse Topped by #5 Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's lacrosse team faced a tough battle on Saturday, going up against No. 5 Gettysburg. The Bears scored a season-high five goals but lost 20-5. Ursinus' five goals were tied for the second-most against the Bullets this season.

The Bears got goals from Jill Verrelle, Hanna Crowley, Abby Krasutsky, and Grace Langen (2). Goalkeeper Alexa Machado faced 38 shots, recording 10 saves.

Gettysburg got on the board just 20 seconds into the game, but Ursinus responded four-minutes later as Verrelle scored her first goal of the season. The Bullets regained the lead to go up 2-1, but the Bears once again responded with a goal of their own to tie it – this one from Hanna Crowley.

The Bullets scored the next nine goals before the Bears stopped the scoring run on an unassisted goal from Krasutsky with 1:25 to play in the opening half to make it 11-3.

Langen scored both of the Ursinus goals in the second half. The Bullets scored the opening three goals of the half before Langen found the back of the net. Seven minutes later Katherine Eckhoff assisted Langen to make it 16-5.

Gettysburg scored the final four goals of the game as Ursinus lost 20-5.
