The Muhlenberg field hockey team struck first, but it wasn't enough in a 2-1 setback to Bryn Mawr.
Â
Following a quiet first 30 minutes of play, it took just 45 seconds of second-half action for the Mules (7-4, 2-3) to find the back of the net. Sophomore
Maleah Hess (pictured above) was the goal scorer, burying a feed from classmate
Sarah Raab on a penalty corner play.
Â
The Owls (9-1, 3-1) netted the equalizer on a penalty corner just under two minutes later and the go-ahead goal off a rebound in the waning seconds of the third quarter.
Â
The fourth quarter saw Muhlenberg double-up the Owls in shots, including three of their four shots forcing the goalie to make a save. Freshman
Alexandra Gann and junior
Marlee Siegel put back-to-back shots on cage less than 10 seconds apart to start the push. Then, with just under seven minutes to go, sophomore
Tyler Wilson nearly found the back of the net from the right side.
Â
Junior
Sophie Beeler registered the 13th defensive save of her career to move into a tie for sixth all-time. It was her fourth defensive save of the year, one shy of her career high.
