Men's Lacrosse Honors Seniors vs. Muhlenberg

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Getting to play on its home turf for the first time in 436 days, the Haverford College men's lacrosse team went toe-to-toe with a Muhlenberg squad that has been receiving votes in the national polls for a significant portion of this season. The Fords stayed within striking distance throughout much of the afternoon but a 7-2 fourth quarter advantage for the Mules ultimately resulted in a 15-8 final in Muhlenberg's favor.

The senior class definitely had an impactful role on Saturday. Brian Geffroy led the attack with two goals and one assist. Ethan Donlon came up huge in goal with 19 saves while fellow senior Joe Weisberg made three saves during the final 6:40 of playing time. Jonathan Frost and Colby Ferrigno both forced a pair of caused turnovers on the defensive end of the field. Frost was also 8-for-14 at the face-off X. Ben Fujinaga was active on the attacking end with three shots while Anthony Vizzoni scooped up one ground ball. Today's contest was also the final game for seniors Matt Culkin and Grayson Hamrick.

The Fords knotted the game with the Mules twice. The first occasion came when Andrew Arth scored his first of two goals on the afternoon with 6:09 to play during the first quarter. Arth also scored a man-down goal during the second period before Gray Pollock tied the game at three-all off the feed from Arth.

Geffroy found his stride on the man-up attack, netting two such goals in the third period via unassisted tallies. Eric Dahlberg also rattled the back of the cage during the third quarter as the Fords found themselves down just 8-6 heading into the final 15 minutes. Geffroy's two man-up tallies made the Fords a perfect 2-for-2 on the man-advantage while the defense successfully killed off three of its four penalties.

Haverford scored twice more in the fourth quarter as Dahlberg became the third Haverford player to finish with multiple goals on the afternoon before Sean Mowatt-Larssen tallied with an assist from Geffroy. Nevertheless, those goals were not enough to overcome three straight from Muhlenberg to start the final quarter before the Mules, who were playing their sixth game of the season, closed the contest on a 4-0 run.

Muhlenberg finished the contest with a 61-34 edge in shots. Nevertheless, Haverford limited the Mules' offensive output by holding the visitors to 23-of-29 on their clear attempts while Muhlenberg also committed 16 turnovers. Frost, Donlon, and Mowatt-Larssen each collected a team-best three ground balls to help Haverford reclaim possession throughout the contest.

Getting its opportunity to play a home game this season, today also marked the final games in the careers of Haverford's nine seniors. These seniors were honored before the game in a pregame ceremony. Over the past four seasons, this class helped lead the Fords to a Centennial Conference Tournament appearance in 2018 and a pair of wins over top-10 opponents during the 2019 season.
