SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Volleyball tangled with the Dickinson College Red Devils on Friday night but fell in five sets in the Centennial Conference opener.
Swarthmore took the first two sets 25-17 and 25-21. In the third set, Swarthmore trailed by two late, but evened the score at 24-24. However, Dickinson took the next two points and the set, turning the tide of the match. Dickinson fought off the Garnet in a closely contested fourth set 25-23 and then held on to take the fifth set 15-11.
The Garnet hit .150 for the match while limiting Dickinson to .123. Mehra den Braven hit a match-high 18 kills. Chloe Mayhue added 12 kills, and Emma Morgan-Bennett chipped in 11 kills.
Freshman setter Sierra Tyson posted seven kills with 35 assists, two aces and 28 digs.
With the loss, Swarthmore dipped to 7-5. Dickinson improved to 8-3. The Garnet travel to Ursinus on Tuesday for their next Centennial match.
