CHESTER, Pa. - Many Swarthmore College Outdoor Women's Track & Field athletes had great showings at the Danny Curran Invitational hosted by Widener University on Friday and Saturday.
Sophomore
Lauren Holt, the reigning Centennial Conference Track Athlete of the Week, was on fire once again in both the 400-meter dash and two separate relay events. Holt ran the 400 in 57.44 seconds, slotting herself somewhere among the top 10 in Division III and solidifying her spot as No. 2 in Swarthmore's record book. She took second place of 51 runners.
Senior
Kayla Camacho, junior
Sydney Covitz and junior
Mirayda Martinez joined Holt on the third-place 4x400-meter relay team. Their 4:04.08 time on Saturday outdid their 4:05.46 performance earlier in the season that was ranked 14th nationally.
Holt and Camacho teamed up with senior
Simran Khanna and junior
Sayaka Vaules in the 4x100 to place fourth. Their 49.85-second finish will likely be among the top 30 in DIII when the rankings are updated.
Covitz earned sixth in the 400-meter run with a time of 2:18.25. She could also be among the top 20 in the country in that event.
Camacho's 26.08-second finish in the 200 dash was good for sixth as well.
Junior
Clay Conley was impressive in the shot put as usual, placing second with a heave of 12.59 meters (41 feet 3.75 inches). Conley was already 10th nationally in the shot put entering this weekend.
Garnet sophomore
Maya Zimmerman's javelin throw of 37.05 meters (121 feet 7 inches) helped her to a third-place spot among about 30 competitors.
The Swarthmore team will split up for their next competition on April 5 and 6 at Distance Night hosted by Princeton University as well as the West Chester Invitational.
