Moravian Tops Rival Muhlenberg in Four Sets in Johnston Hall

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's volleyball squad earned a 3-1 non-conference win over rival Muhlenberg College in Johnston Hall Thursday evening. 

How It Happened

  • The opening set was all Moravian early as the Greyhounds jumped out to a 7-1 lead on the way to a 25-16 set win
  • The Mules would lead early in the second set before Moravian rallied for a 25-17 victory to take a 2-0 edge
  • The third set was tied at 6-6 when Muhlenberg took a lead. The Hounds came back to get within a point at 11-10 but the Mules ended up taking the set 25-18
  • Muhlenberg jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the fourth game but the Blue and Grey would go ahead 7-5. The set would continue to go back-and-forth with Moravian eventually posting a 25-23 victory to capture the match 3-1 

Inside the Numbers

  • Senior outside hitter Sela Herber paced the Greyhounds with 14 kills, nine digs and three blocks while senior outside hitter Kirah Dreisbach added 13 kills and 14 digs
  • Freshman middle blocker Kerry Dillon had a career-high 11 kills to go with a pair of blocks for the Hounds while freshman middle blocker Jenna Deegan added three kills and three blocks
  • Junior setter Natalia Matos ran Moravian's offense with 34 assists, and she added 17 digs and three kills while junior defensive specialist Gabby Mancini added a team-high 19 digs and three assists
  • Sophomore defensive specialist Kat DeYesso recorded 10 digs and a pair of service aces while sophomore defensive specialist Emily Szy added seven digs and three assists
