Meet Information
• Meet: Bison Opener
• Location: Gerhard Fieldhouse | Lewisburg, PA
• Date: Saturday, December 4th

Finishing off day two of the heptathlon at the Bison Opener, Justin Canedy was dominant in his return to the indoor track. Canedy broke Andrew Bartnett's school record that has stood since 2017, totaling 5,245 points to win the event at Gerhard Fieldhouse. Canedy started off Friday on a strong note, winning the 60 with a time of 7.03 to earn 872 points. Another event win, this time in the long jump with a mark of 7.10m put Canedy in a great spot, earning him 838 more points. Continuing with the theme, Canedy won the shot put with a 12.74m throw, taking 651 points. Canedy finished Friday a perfect four-for-four with a 2.04m high jump, taking 840 points and a comfortable lead into today.

Canedy continued his run towards the record, winning the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.66 to take 823 points. Canedy got his points in a much different way than Bartlett as he finished fourth in Bartnett's best event, the pole vault. Canedy vaulted 3.85m to finish with 576 points for the event. Canedy finished off the event with a time of 3:01.97 in the 1,000 to earn 645 more points with another fourth-place finish. Add it all up and you have 5,245 points, besting Bartnett's mark of 5,238 by just seven points. Canedy's total is 289 points better than his previous best.
