PINEHURST, N.C.—Swarthmore College Golf played its first match of the spring season at Pinehurst No. 5, home of the iconic par-3 Cathedral Hole on 15, and carded a 316 to beat University of Mount Union and Ursinus College.
Swarthmore seniors Dan Altieri and Vamsi Damerla led the way with Altieri winning medalist honors with a 76 on the par-72, 6,617-yard course. Damerla finished in second, a stroke off of Altieri for a 77.
Michael Brown and Ankur Malik rounded out Swarthmore's team score with an 81 and an 82, respectively. Nick DiMaio shot an 84 on the day.
Finishing under +10 were Arjun Madan who shot an 80 (+8) and Kevin Zheng (+9).
Adam Agustin shot an 86 in his first match this year and Max Katz-Balmes carded an 86 as well. Hunter Hughes shot an 87, and Chris Zhang posted an 87.
After Swarthmore returns home from spring break, the Garnet will be in action at Rock Manor Country Club on March 24.
