Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Hangs On in Home Finale

The Muhlenberg women's lacrosse team built a big lead and held off Ursinus in the second half to win 14-12, in its final home game of the year.

Junior Gabriella Crivelli recorded career highs in goals (5), points (6) and draw controls (9) for the Mules (8-7, 3-5), who snapped their four-game skid. Senior Amanda Tullo scored three goals for her 30th career hat trick, and senior Morgan Weiss had an outstanding game on defense with five ground balls and a career-high five caused turnovers, two on drawn charges in the second half.

Muhlenberg trailed 4-2 midway through the first half before going on a decisive 7-0 run. Crivelli scored four of her goals - all on free-position shots - during that period, including two 49 seconds apart.

Freshman Madeline Dill capped the run by netting a goal 23 seconds after Crivelli, giving the Mules a 9-4 lead.

It was 12-6 at halftime, but the Bears (3-12, 2-6) reeled off the first three goals of the second half. After Tullo fed cutting sophomore Lauren Sammarro for a goal at the 20:46 mark, Ursinus scored three more to close to within 13-12.

With 10:05 left on the game clock and 3 seconds left on the shot clock, senior Emma Carmody spun and scored while getting fouled to provide Muhlenberg with some breathing room.

That was the last goal of the game, as the Mule defense pitched a shutout the rest of the way. Weiss (pictured above) and fellow seniors Melissa Rudberg and Erin Duca caused turnovers in that final stretch, and junior Jordan Segrave made the last of her six saves in the final minute.

Senior Caroline Dolan won seven draws, helping Muhlenberg to an 18-10 advantage.

Tullo's three goals gave her 148 for her career heading into Saturday's finale at nationally ranked Franklin & Marshall.
