MSOC: Wildcats Season Comes to an End Against Franklin & Marshall in the NCAA DIII Tournament.

LANCASTER, Pa. - The SUNY Poly men's soccer team lost to the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats on Saturday in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Wildcats held the #4 ranked Diplomats to just one score in the first half, but the offense broke through the backline in the second, netting four goals to ultimately win 5-0. The Diplomats will advance to face Middlebury on Sunday. 

 

NOTES: 

  • The Wildcats struggled against a strong Diplomat Defense. The Wildcats took just one shot in the game. Their only shot was a shot on goal by Edgar Gomez

  • Chase Coluccio made one save in goal for the Wildcats. 

  • Five different players scored in the game for the Diplomats. 

  • Four different players had assists for the Diplomats. 

  • Steven Yakita had a game-high three points on a goal and an assist for Franklin & Marshall.

  • Sam Altman Farrell earned the win in goal. He did not have to make a save in 78 minutes of play. 

 

With the loss in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, the Wildcats season comes to an end. The North Atlantic Conference Championship win was the Wildcat's third conference championship in program history and their first NAC Championship in their first season of NAC competition. The NCAA berth was their first since 2014. With a young roster and only three graduating seniors, the future is very bright for the Wildcats.
