Mount's Header Rescues Draw for Women's Soccer

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's soccer team erased a second-half deficit in less than three minutes during Saturday's home date with Stevenson, but neither side was able to add on to the brief scoring spree in a 1-1 non-conference draw.

The Mustangs (0-1-1) broke a scoreless deadlock in the 70th minute, only for Ursinus to equalize in short order. Following a restart, Izzy Allocco looped an inch-perfect free kick to the far post for Raya Mount, who rose up to head the ball into the top corner of the net for her first career goal.

Each team had a chance or two down the stretch, but a game-winner for either was not to be.

Despite the lack of goals, the first half was a lively affair as the Bears and Mustangs combined for 16 shots. Kayla Harvey, Thursday night's hero, nearly put Ursinus in front early in the second half, but her attempt to chip the Stevenson keeper bounced off the top of the bar.

Starting goalie Mandy Carideo had four saves before leaving the game with an injury early in the second half, and rookie Maddie Nau filled in for the remainder of the contest.

The Bears held a 16-14 edge in shots and registered 13 corners to the Mustangs' six.

Ursinus travels to Arcadia for a non-conference match next Thursday.
