Haverford Snaps Men’s Soccer Win Streak

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College snapped the Gettysburg College men's soccer team four-game winning streak on Sunday as the Bullets loss a disappointing 2-0 match at Walton Field.

The Bullets are now 5-3-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

On their fourth shot attempt in the opening half, the Fords snagged the first goal as Michael Carr dribbled through the defense and shot to the low right corner.

Haverford outshot Gettysburg by a slim 5-3 margin in the opening half.

The Bullets looked to score off a corner kick three minutes into the second-half, but junior Raff Mazzone's (Nottingham, Md./Loyola Blakefield) shot was saved by the Haverford goalie.

The Fords drilled back-to-back shots at the 61:41 and 63:26 markers, respectively, but junior Thomas Keane (Potomac, Md./Gonzaga College) came up with both saves.

Gettysburg's leading scorer freshman Oladayo Thomas (Larchmont, N.Y./The Masters) took a shot at the net 10 minutes later, looking to get on the scoreboard for the Bullets, but his shot was saved by the Haverford goalie.

Haverford collected its final goal at the 83rd minute as their leading scorer Nick Jannelli shot from 20-yards out to the lower right corner.

The Fords held the Bullets to their lowest shot opportunity of the season, taking the 11-5 control, while also taking the 7-6 advantage in corner kicks.

Keane ended the match with two saves between the pipes.

The Bullets return to the pitch on Saturday, October 6, as welcome Centennial Conference opponent Muhlenberg College to Clark Field. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
