LANCASTER, Pa. – Junior
Kate Crilly (Shrewsbury, N.J./Ranney School) and freshman
Katie Cooper (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) each won a pair of individual events to lead Gettysburg College to a 139-122 victory at Franklin & Marshall College in Centennial Conference women's swimming action Saturday afternoon.
Gettysburg (7-3, 5-2 CC) claimed the top spot in eight of the 14 events. Crilly doubled up in the sprints for the third time this season, winning the 50 free with time of 24.80 and claiming the 100 free in 54.65. Cooper continued her dominance in the breaststroke races with her fourth sweep of the year. She won the 100-yard race for the sixth time with a mark of 1:10.05 and cruised to a two-second win in the 200 at 2:33.46.
The pair also teamed with senior
Lindsay Hayden (Enfield, Conn./Suffield Academy) and freshman
Cate Kosko (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury East) for a win in the 400 free relay to close the dual. Crilly closed the final 100 in 53.91 to help the relay win by over two seconds with a time of 3:40.98.
Sophomore
Katherine Sears (Glenmoore, Pa./Downingtown East) touched the wall first in the 1,000 free for the fourth time this campaign. Sears completed the event in 10:53.47 to win by over four seconds. The sophomore also finished second by less than two seconds in the 500 free at 5:19.47.
Hayden skimmed through the water in 1:58.63 to claim the top spot in the 200 free. The senior also finished third in the 100 free (55.74).
Freshman
Megan Wojnar (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) cruised to her fourth victory of the season in the 200 backstroke. Wojnar, the program record holder in the event, won by over four seconds with a time of 2:11.10. She also placed third in the 200 IM at 2:17.05 and second in the 100 back in 1:02.21.
Freshman
Katie Jenkins (Bow, N.H./Bow) picked up a pair of second-place efforts in the butterfly races, finishing in 1:01.49 and 2:15.16 in the 100 and 200, respectively. Senior
Johnna Hock (Timonium, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) turned in a hat trick of runner-up performances, finishing behind Cooper in the 100 (1:11.71) and 200 (2:35.68) breaststroke races and touching second in the 200 IM (2:15.09).
Gettysburg hosts the CC Championship at the Bullets Pool on Feb. 21-24.
