ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. – The Gettysburg College women's golf team shot a 327 on the way to place second on the opening day of the Gettysburg Invitational at the Hanover Country Club on Saturday.
York (Pa.) College sits atop of the standings with a 323, while Stevenson University is third with 338.
Three of Gettysburg players sit among the top five scorers. Junior
Skylar Frankiewicz (Concord, Mass./Concord Carllisle) and classmate
Hannah Fireman (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) carded a 77 and 78, respectively, to claim first and tie for second place. Junior
Katie McCarthy (Westlake, Ohio/Hathaway Brown School) shot an 82 and is tied for fifth with Anna Moore of York (Pa.), Amanda Perez of Stevenson, and Shelby Tapman of York (Pa.).
Freshman
Cameron D'Amica (Milford, N.J./Delaware Valley) and
Gillian Marini (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) rounded out Gettysburg's lineup. D'Amica is tied for 18th with a 90, a new collegiate low by one stroke, while Marini carded a 99 to place 26th.
The final round of the Gettysburg Invitational will take place on Sunday at 9 a.m.
