Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Stopped By Fords

HAVERFORD, Pa.—Swarthmore College Men's Soccer fell 3-1 on the road Saturday afternoon at Haverford College, dropping to 11-3-3 overall and 4-3-2 in Centennial action, narrowly missing the fifth and final playoff spot.

Haverford pounced on three of its five corner opportunities in the first half, tallying goals off of corners in the 11th, 33rd and 37th minutes.

Down 3-0, Swarthmore got its chance in the 51st minute when senior Omri Gal received a pass near the 18 on the right side and then served in a strong cross to the far post. Junior midfielder Woojin Shin dashed in behind the enemy back line and finished off the cross from point blank range, netting his sixth goal of the season, tied for tops among the Garnet.

Swarthmore registered six shots in total in the second half, but weren't able to pull any closer. Senior Oliver Steinglass closed out the match in goal and recorded six saves in the second half.

In the NCAA's regional rankings used to determine NCAA Tournament berths, Swarthmore is currently ranked fourth in the Mid-Atlantic. If the season is in fact over for Swarthmore, the Garnet would conclude the 2019 campaign with a .735 win percentage, its best percentage since 2012. The team posted a 34-22 (+12) goal differential, a marked improvement from the year before (+4) and the year prior (-12).
