Gettysburg opened the season with an eighth-place finish over the 6,000-meter course at the highly-competitive Galen Piper Cross Country Challenge hosted by Shippensburg. The Bullets scored 176 points.
THE LEADERS

Connor Elliott (Media, Pa./Salesianum School [Del.]) led the Bullets with a fourth-place finish, posting a time of 19:48.6 as the first non-Shippensburg runner across the line. His time was 12 seconds faster than he completed the course last season.
FOR THE FOES
• Shippensburg won the nine-team invitational with 36 points, more than half the total of second-place Ursinus (73).
THE REST OF THE STORY

Noah Albanese (Castleton-on-Hudson, N.Y./Maple Hill) placed 47th overall with a time of 21:37.9.
•
Dominic DiLuzio (Chadds Ford, Pa./Garnet Valley) crossed 49th with a time of 21:46.3.
•
Mick Lorenger (Alexandria, Va./Thomas Edison) finished 51st with a time of 22:00.5.
•
Joe Zimbler (Nesconset, N.Y./Smithtown East) was 63rd overall with a time of 22:23.2.
•
Kyle Northrup (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solebury) rounded out the Gettysburg competitors in 69th place with a time of 22:45.1.
