Swale Sets Program Record to Highlight Weekend for Women’s Track & Field

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's track & field team competed at Haverford College's McElligott Invitational and the Bucknell Bison Open over the weekend.

Hannah Swale headlined the weekend with a program record in the pentathlon at the Bison Open. The first-year placed second overall in the event with 2,905 points to surpass the previous record of 2,693, which was set in 2020 by Maya Zimmerman.



HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swale took second overall with a program record in the pentathlon at the Bison Open. The first-year finished second in the 800m run (2:42.14) and third in the high jump (1.58m) for the Garnet.

- Adria Retter finished first in the shot put with a top distance of 13.33m, while Tate Garcia took eighth with a 10.39m mark. Retter also grabbed third overall in the weight throw with a 15.05m mark. 

- Quinn Basewitz placed second in the 800m run to headline four top-10 finishes for Swarthmore in the event. The senior crossed the finish line at 2:25.79. Johanna Schubert finished in the fourth position with a 2:27.28 mark, while Morgan Mouer and Alina Irvine were sixth and eighth, respectively. 

- Olivia Montini grabbed second place in the 3000m run with a time of 10:40.61. The effort marked a new personal record.

UP NEXT
The Garnet return to action at the Frank Colden Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 4.
