UMW Men's Tennis Falls to #8 Johns Hopkins, 6-3, on Saturday

The University of Mary Washington men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to eighth-ranked Johns Hopkins University on Saturday at the Battleground. The Eagles slip to 8-8 on the season.

The Eagles pulled ahead in three tightly-contested doubles matches, winning at one, as Rishi Charan Shankar and Andrew Watson defeated Thomas Yu and James Yu, 8-5, and Brock Ladehoff and Peter Leese downed Marco Azar and Allen Gong at two, 8-7 (7).

Hopkins rebounded in singles play as the lone Eagle point came from Artis Hart at four, who defeated Azar, 6-2, 6-4.

UMW will be back in action on Sunday against Haverford at Goucher College in Towson, Md., before heading next weekend at the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Tournament in Newport News, Va.
