HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College field hockey team (4-7, 2-3 CC) notched a key Centennial Conference win at home on Swan Field Saturday, charging past Dickinson (1-0, 0-5 CC) for a 2-1 decision to snap a three-game losing skid.

First year Holly Vincent scored the game-winning tally in the third quarter after Amy Kim got the Fords on the scoreboard in the 11th minute. In total, Haverford held a 15-8 edge in shots and tallied eight penalty corners to seven for the visitors. Mary Smith made five saves in her 60 minutes in the cage, denying Dickinson in the final moments to seal the win.

Haverford controlled much of the offensive rhythm of the early goings, earning a pair of early penalty corners with Olivia Ahart having a trio of shots blocked in the fifth minute. After the Fords earned a 10th minute corner, Naomi York eventually found Amy Kim down low in front of the cage for the opening tally in the 11th minute.

In the 26th minute, Lexie Streicher made a defensive save on a shot from Morgan Yandow-Harding, keeping Dickinson off the scoreboard as the Fords headed into the intermission with the 1-0 lead.

Abby Marthins tied the contest in the 36th minute off an assist from Maggie Carson, giving the Red Devils some new life as they went back on the offensive to chase the equalizer, but it was Haverford knocking on the doorstep down the stretch of the third, with Anna Bradley and Vincent peppering the cage with shots on frame before Delaney Snowden also rocketed one on target in the 44th minute. Eventually, the floodgates opened in the 45th as Snowden sent a salvo into the front of the cage for the waiting stick of Vincent, who knocked it home to give Haverford the late lead.

In the fourth, the Fords looked to add a third behind shots from Zoey Despines and Olivia Ahart in the early goings, before Dickinson notched three shots on frame, including tries at the tying goal in the 58th and 60th minutes, with Smith denying those chances to send the Fords to a victory.

Ahart had a game-best four shots, while Vincent had three shots on goal. Marthins paced Dickinson with three shots while Becca Woods added two on frame. Haverford has now beaten Dickinson in two consecutive matchups after last season's win in penalty strokes, and has eight wins in the series.

The Centennial Conference season now continues on Wednesday, with the Fords taking on Muhlenberg at 7 p.m. on Swan Field.
