Men's Soccer Knocks off No.5 Johns Hopkins

COLLEGEVILLVE, Pa – The Ursinus men's soccer team took a major step in its building process on Saturday, defeating No. 5 Johns Hopkins University 1-0.  In the 13th minute the Bears had a free kick opportunity, where Kevin Devlin sent a long ball into the box. Joshua Coster was able to flick the pass to the foot of Marco Grenda who found the back of the net.

With the rain falling in the second half, the Blue Jays would amplify the pressure sending 10 of their 11 total shots at the Bears defense. Most notably in the 71st minute, a corner kick from Johns Hopkins found Ian Whamond in front of the net but was saved by Tyler Lewin. A few minutes later, a header from Diego Elias missed high for the Blue Jays.

Tyler Lewin hauled in 4 saves and the defense would be able to hold off Johns Hopkins for their first win against the Blue Jays since 1994.

The Bears travel to Muhlenberg on Wednesday for a 7PM showdown with the Mules.
