The Muhlenberg women's basketball played nationally ranked DeSales to a standstill in the first half before eventually falling, 64-52.
Freshman
Jaelyn Swann had a breakout game for the Mules, scoring 13 points.
The Bulldogs (4-0), ranked 13th in the D3hoops.com preseason poll, led 13-3 midway through the first quarter, but with Swann scoring five points and sophomore
Margaux Eripret four, the Mules (1-2) closed to within three by the end of the quarter.
Sophomore
Mikaela McGarvey opened the second quarter with a three-pointer to tie the game, and a three in transition by senior
Emily O'Mahoney gave Muhlenberg a 20-17 lead.
DeSales scored the first five points of the second half to break a 26-all tie and stayed on top the rest of the game. The Mules cut an 11-point lead to five in the fourth quarter, but the Bulldogs put the game away with seven foul shots in the final 22 seconds.
Muhlenberg held DeSales to 25.0-percent shooting for the game.
O'Mahoney
(pictured above) finished with nine points, while senior
Madison Kirchofer scored eight. Sophomore
Tara Szawaluk dished out six assists, one short of her career high.
