HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Gettysburg College men's tennis team clinched victories in five singles matches on the way to a 6-3 win over Division II Shepherd University in its spring opener Sunday.
Playing Division II scoring rules in doubles, Gettysburg (4-1) fell behind as Shepherd (0-1) scored victories at the top two flights, including a 15-13 marathon tiebreaker at No. 2. Sophomore
Patrick Bodovitz (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) and junior
Jacob Meehan (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) provided the team's first point with a 6-2 win at third doubles.
The Bullets came out on top in five of the six singles contests. Senior
Andrew Corwin (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) swept his way to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5, while sophomore
Harrison Brown (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) dropped only one game in a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6.

Kevin Maier (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton) won his opening set 6-4 before his opponent retired at third singles. Junior
Mike Mills (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) upped his season record to 4-1 with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Evan Dokken at No. 2.
Sophomore
Tommy Gilio (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) bounced back from an opening-set loss at No. 4 to score a 4-6, 6-1, 10-5 win over Kaleb Lochner at No. 4.
Gettysburg returns to the court against Nebraska Wesleyan University Monday at 2:30 p.m.
