HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's lacrosse team powered past visiting Scranton, taking a 15-10 victory on Saturday afternoon at Swan Field. The contest, the last for the Fords before a two-game spring break stint, saw Haverford take a 7-4 lead into the intermission before using a 6-2 run out of the halftime gates to seal the win. Courtney Cubbin had three goals to pace the Fords, also tallying a career-best five ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers in the victory. Hailey Morris, Eliza Brosgol, and Olivia DiRienz each had a pair of goals while Julia Manetta tallied three assists. Morris won four draw controls, as did Maeve Gaffney. Four different Fords scooped up multiple ground balls in a well-rounded effort.

Haverford rattled off five of the first six goals to begin the contest, with Belle McMahon tallying off a free-position to put Haverford ahead 5-1 with 18:33 remaining in the first half. Morris and Cubbin then scored in succession for the Fords, extending the lead to 7-2 before Scranton fired back with a pair to tighten the scoreline to just three goals heading into the intermission. Haverford brought that lead back to five at 10-5 with Callie Crawford's unassisted tally, and DiRienz then scored a pair ahead of two more from Cubbin as the Fords led 14-7 with just 7:06 left in regulation. Scranton found twine with four of the final six goals of the contest, but Haverford was content to play conservatively with the lead in hand at that point.

Halle Conklin and Jennifer Williams each had a pair of goals for the Royals, as Kate Calabro stuffed the statsheet with four caused turnovers, three ground balls, four draw controls and a goal to her ledger for the visitors. Amelia Slade picked up her third win of the season as she played the first 50:34 between the pipes, stopping six shots. Sarah Cahn saw relief action, playing the final 9:26 and making a save. Lauren Devlin saw the bulk of time in goal for Scranton, stopping eight shots. The Fords avenged a one-goal loss at Scranton a season ago, and now hold a 7-2 edge in the all-time series with the Royals.

Haverford will now next be in action on Wednesday, March 11 at St. Mary's College of Maryland. The contest will begin at 4 p.m. and will serve as the first stop on a southbound journey, before the Fords wrap up the weekend in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, taking on Christopher Newport in a Saturday matinee (12 p.m.) on March 14.
