McGarry Places Second, McDaniel Third at Kinder-Williams

HARRISONBURG, Va. - McDaniel College men's golf senior Ryan McGarry finished second to lead the Green Terror to a third-place finish at the Kinder-Williams Invitational hosted by Bridgewater College at Lakeview Golf Club.

McDaniel held the lead by two strokes over Roanoke and Southern Virginia going into today's final round, but after leading the 15-team field with a 292, Southern Virginia totaled a two-day total of 594 to edge out a three-stroke win over Lynchburg. McDaniel one stroke back of the Hornets with a 598.

McGarry shot a two-over par 74 on Tuesday, but managed to record his third top-10 finish in as many events this fall as he finished tied for second with a 142, tying him with Southern Virginia's Brogan Bennett. Shenandoah's Connor Christie earned low medalist honors with a 141 which included a three-under par 69 in today's final round.

McGarry totaled three birdies and 10 pars and was the only player to finish the two-day event under par in par 4 scoring. He also had the second-best total in par 5 scoring, finishing at five-under, and totaled nine birdies, the second-most of the 81 players in the field.

Freshman Charlie Dolan moved up 14 spots on the leaderboard after carding a one-under par 71 in the second round to finish in a tie for 17th. A model of consistency, he was through nine holes after nine consecutive pars before back-to-back birdies on the 13th and 14th before finishing his round with four-straight pars.

After shooting a season-best 75 on Monday, junior Joe Graceffa carded a second-round 79 to finished tied for 25th after two birdies and eight pars.

Sophomore Dell Grieser shaved seven strokes off his first round score, turning in a two-over par 74 to improve 15 spots on the leaderboard. He was just one stroke off his season-best at the Transylvania Fall Invitational.

Freshman Sean Kelly and sophomore Hogan Schulze finished tied for 35th with Kelly totaling 11 pars and two birdies to shoot 77. Schulze carded a 79.

McDaniel returns to action next Monday in the Stevenson Fall Invitational at Piney Branch Golf Club.
