Johns Hopkins Tops Franklin & Marshall, 7-2

• The Short Story: The 25th-ranked Johns Hopkins men's tennis team took down Franklin & Marshall, 7-2, on Wednesday afternoon in Centennial Conference action.
 
How it Happened
• The Blue Jays swept the doubles matches to jump out to a 3-0 lead over the Diplomats. Junior Austin Gu and sophomore Jack Hogan took the first point of the match when they beat Andrew Pace and Tristan Steffe, 8-4, at third doubles. Sophomore Vishnu Joshi and junior Vik Vasan then defeated Isaac Salas and Zack Levin, 8-4, at second. Seniors Colin Muraika and Scott Thygesen closed out doubles play with an 8-5 win over Sam Bellersen and Adith Chandavarkar at first.
• Thygesen was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Bellersen at second singles while Gu clinched the win for Hopkins with a 6-2, 6-3 win at first over Salas. Levin grabbed a point for Franklin & Marshall with a 6-1, 7-6 win over sophomore Eric Yoo at third.
• Carey earned a 7-6, 6-4 win over Chandavarkar at fourth. Adrian Charchalis picked up another point for the Dips when he beat sophomore Matt Lurie 6-2, 6-4 at sixth. Freshman Naevin Anukornchaikul rallied to defeat Pace 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (8) at fifth to close out the match.
 
What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 27-28 all-time against Franklin & Marshall and wins its 19th straight in the series.
• Thygesen moved into a tie for 19th in school history with his 44th career doubles win.
 
Up Next
• Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, April 13 as the Blue Jays travel to Swarthmore, PA to take on the Garnet. The Centennial Conference match is slated for a 12:00 pm start.
