How it Happened
First Half: The visitors did not waste anytime going to the cage as senior Thomas Keane (Potomac, Md./Gonzaga College) made two saves in the first two minutes of action. The Captains may have been the first to strike a shot, but the Bullets were the first to hit one into the back of the net as Omosanya connected on a penalty kick 16-minutes into the game. Four minutes later, Christopher Newport then tallied a goal off a penalty kick to tie the game up at 1-1. Gettysburg looked to take the lead into intermission as freshman Pape Diallo (Jamaica, N.Y./Proctor Academy) took a shot with under three minutes remaining, but CNU's Justin Piercy made the save.
Second Half: The Captains took the lead 12 minutes in as they tallied another goal off a penalty kick. Gettysburg then tied the game again as Thomas grabbed the loose ball and shot into the lower right corner of the net with 58:12 on the clock. With the ball down in the Bullets territory, a Christopher Newport player through in the ball in which both teams went for the header, but landed at the feet of Lincoln Kickbush who one-touched the ball into the right side of the cage for the final tally.
