ABINGTON, Pa.--Swarthmore College Men's Soccer improved to 4-0 on Saturday after winning its first road game of 2019. The Garnet topped the PSU-Abington Nittany Lions 2-1 with goals from freshman
Bless Tumushabe and junior
Woojin Shin.
Swarthmore out-shot Abington 14-5 and only allowed two Abington attempts on goal.
Oliver Steinglass registered the win in goal for Swarthmore.
The Garnet got on the board first, with Tumushabe recording his first collegiate gaol in the 21st minute. Swarthmore kept Abington from scoring until the 63rd minute. With the game evened at 1-1, Swarthmore responded just two minutes later. Shin tallied his second goal of the season set up by an assist from
Ben Lau.
The Garnet are off to their best start since 2014 when they opened the year with six straight wins.
Swarthmore travels to Eastern University on Wednesday for a 4:30 p.m. tilt with the Eagles.
