Field Hockey Can't Shake Late Surge by Haverford

HAVERFORD, Pa. – An early first half goal wasn't enough as Swarthmore College Field Hockey fell to Haverford College in the season finale on Saturday.
 
Marion Carr scored less than two minutes into the contest as she collected her own rebound. The sophomore forced Sunny Truslow to make a challenging save just seconds before the Garnet took a 1-0 lead.
 
Late in the fourth period, Haverford tied the game on an unassisted goal by Casey Wakai. Less than five minute later, the Fords earned a game winning goal from Ravenel Davis. The Fords surged in the fourth period as eight of their nineteen shots came in the last session.
 
Swarthmore finished the game with nine shots, including seven of those on goal. Carr led the way with five shots and four on goal. Andie Tappenden added three shots, while Quinn Basewitz tallied one shot on goal for the Garnet.
 
Aron Lankford recorded four saves against the Fords. Haverford tallied ten penalty corners, while Swarthmore finished the game with two.
 
Swarthmore finished the season 7-10 and 3-7 in Centennial action, while Haverford improved to 9-8 overall and 3-7 in league play.
