GLENSIDE, Pa.—A career high 28-point outburst from sophomore Conor Harkins propelled No. 13 Swarthmore College Men's Basketball past the Arcadia University Knights 82-77 on Sunday afternoon.
Swarthmore improved to 4-0 this year with the win while Arcadia slipped to 3-2.
Harkins drained eight 3-pointers on 13 attempts to lead all scorers. Three other Garnet players reached double figures. Cam Wiley and Zac O'Dell each recorded 16 points while shooting 50 percent from the floor. Nate Shafer chipped in 13 points on a 6-for-7 day from the floor.
As a team, the Garnet shot 48.3 percent from beyond the 3-point line, nearly matching their performance from the floor overall (49.1 percent).
Arcadia banged the ball inside, netting 48 points in the paint and shooting 54.2 percent from the floor. However, the Knights were just 3-of-13 from 3-point range (23.1 percent). Four Knights reached double digits in scoring with Da'Kquan Davis registering a team-high 20 points. The Knights also held a two-rebound advantage, marking the first game this season the Garnet trailed in the rebounding category.
Swarthmore is back in action at Johns Hopkins University on Thursday at 7 p.m.
