The Muhlenberg volleyball team split a pair of matches in Baltimore, rebounding to defeat Mary Washington in four sets.
In their first match of the day, the Mules (8-11, 2-3) were swept by undefeated, 12th-ranked Johns Hopkins.
Three players reached double figures in kills against Mary Washington, a team the Mules lost to in five sets last year. Senior
Tara Register (pictured above) hit .382 on 14 kills with only one error and added 12 digs for her fourth double-double of the season. Fellow seniors
Laura Boll and
Maggie Enestvedt added 10 kills apiece.
Senior
Madison Forrest (9 kills) and sophomore
Lauren Achey (8) also were big contributors on attack. Achey added 8 blocks.
Freshman
Emma Eglinton tied her career high (set in a five-set match) with 45 assists, while junior
Maya Illovsky, returning to action after missing almost a month with injury, finished with 24 digs and 4 aces.
After the teams split the first two sets, Muhlenberg came from behind to win the decisive third set. The Eagles led 19-15 at one point, but the Mules came back to tie the score at 20-20 on a combined block by Achey and Eglinton.
The set was still tied at 23 before Eglinton set up Enestvedt and Boll for back-to-back kills and a 25-23 win.
The Mules trailed 13-12 in the fourth set before finishing on a 13-2 run to end the match. Boll recorded two kills in the run and sealed the win with an ace.
