• The Short Story: Lillian Scott became the 15th player in Johns Hopkins women's basketball history to score 1,000 career points as the Blue Jays defeated Haverford, 54-45, in a tough Centennial Conference road matchup on Saturday.

How it Happened
• The two Centennial Conference rivals got off to a slow start as neither was able to get into a rhythm offensively early in the game. A three from Lexie Scholtz gave JHU an 8-7 lead, but an 8-0 Haverford run put the home team up 15-8 with 5:13 left in the half.
• Scholtz ended the Fords' run with a layup sparking an 8-0 Blue Jay run, and two free throws by Lillian Scott gave Hopkins a 16-15 lead at 3:46. Not to be outdone, Haverford ended the half on a 7-2 run, capped by two threes near the end of the half to take a 24-18 lead into the break.
• A 7-2 run by Hopkins in the early portions of the third brought the Blue Jays to within two at 28-26 and a three from Madison McGrath gave Johns Hopkins a 29-28 lead at 6:03. Scott extended the JHU lead to three with a layup at 4:36, but four straight points by Haverford put the Fords back up one. Back-to-back layups from Scott and Rory Cole near the end of the quarter gave the Blue Jays a 35-32 lead heading into the game's final 10 minutes.
• The Fords hung around in the fourth, but Scholtz sparked a 10-4 run with a layup as Hopkins pulled out to a 49-38 advantage with 4:38 remaining and JHU held on for the 54-45 win.
