HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Swarthmore College men's cross country team finished third overall out of eight teams in the four mile run at the Main Line Invitational on Friday night.
Atticus Hempel and
Will Sheehy both put together top-10 finishes for the Garnet as the duo finished second and third, respectively, among Division-III runners.
Aiden Tomov also had a stong showing as he placed 25th overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After winning the Bryn Mawr Invitational to open the season, Hempel found himself towards the front of the pack once again. The sophomore placed eighth overall with a time of 19:50.4 at a 4:57.6 mile pace to set a new course program record.
- Sheehy placed just behind Hempel with a ninth place effort. After finishing second overall at Bryn Mawr, the freshman continued to impress in his young career. Sheehy crossed the finish line at 19:54.3 for a 4:58.6 mile pace. He also broke the previous program course record of 20.15.50.
- Tomov was 25th overall with a time of 20:37.5 for a 5:09.4 pace. The senior set a new course personal best after running a 22:08 in his previous two attempts on the course.
Sam Brody finished fourth on the team with a time of 21:04.2 1 to place 39th overall, while
Colin DeLaney was 41st overall at 21:08.4.

Rowan Orlijan-Rhyme and
Andrew Cheng also earned points for the Garnet. Orlijan-Rhyne was 53rd with a time of 21:29.8, while Cheng finished 57th at 21:38.6.
Jay van Adrichem Boogaert ran in the same pack as he placed 58th with a 21:40.9 finish.
