Weygandt Sets Conference Record, Women Look Strong at D3 Shootout

CHICAGO - The Swarthmore College women's swimming team finished fifth overall at the D3 Shootout on Friday and Saturday. The Garnet went head-to-head against some of the nation's toughest competition as they competed against four nationally-ranked opponents in the University of Chicago, Pomona-Pitzer, Hope College and Trinity University.

Quinn Weygandt highlighted the weekend with a Centennial Conference record and program record in the 400 individual medley, while also meeting NCAA B-cut standards in the event. Weygandt bested the program record by four seconds, while taking two seconds off the conference record.

Swarthmore's 200 medley relay also met the B-cut threshold in a strong opening night performance. The Garnet then opened day two of the tournament by meeting B-cut standard in the 400 medley relay.

DAY ONE
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Weygandt set a conference and program record in the 400 IM with a time of 4:29.19 to meet NCAA B-cut standard. The first-year broke the program record by four seconds, while earning a fourth place finish in the top final.

- The 200 medley relay of Ashley Wong, Gaby Ma, Annaliese Chen and Erin Szuromi met NCAA B-cut standard with a time of 1:45.28. The relay moved into fourth all-time in program history as they touched the wall fourth in the event.

- Chen finished second overall in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:06.78. Weygandt also swam the event with a time of 2:09.11 as she moved into seventh all-time in program history.

- Elle Anthony continued a stellar start to her rookie campaign as she moved into third all-time in program history for the 50 freestyle. The first-year finished third in her final with a 24.04 mark.

- Kate Hallmark moved into fourth all-time in program history for the 200 freestyle. The first-year placed sixth in the top final with a time of 1:54.43.

- Szuromi was fifth in the 100 backstroke top final with a 58.74 mark, while Wong swam a time of 58.40 to move into third all-time in program history.

- The 800 freestyle relay of Weygandt, Hallmark, Mackenzie Tucker and Anthony finished sixth overall with a 7:48.77 mark. The relay moved into seventh all-time in program history.

DAY TWO
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The 400 medley relay of Szuromi, Ma, Wong and Anthony set a new program record as the touched the wall at 3:51.37. Swarthmore's relay met the B-cut threshold as they placed fourth overall in the event.

- Hallmark continued to shine as she put together another strong swim in a freestyle event. The first-year finished second overall in the 500 freestyle with a 5:06.07 mark. Hallmark moved into fourth all-time on the program's leaderboard.

- Weygandt also added to an impressive weekend with a time of 5:09.52 in the 500 freestyle as she moved into ninth on the program's leaderboard. She also competed in the 200 IM with the eighth fastest time in program history at 2:11.33.

- Wong climbed to third all-time in the 100 butterfly with a 56.44 effort. She finished second overall in the event.

- Anthony added to the list of impressive swims from first-years this weekend. She was fifth in the top final of the 100 freestyle with a 52.25 mark and moved into second in program history.
