RADNOR, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's swimming team returned to action with a 107.5-60.5 victory over Cabrini on Friday afternoon.
The Bears opened with an event victory in the 200-yard Medley Relay as the quartet of Francesco D'Avella, Jake Hennegan, Samuel Taffet, and Kevin Sonn finished first with a time of 1:39.64.
Sophomore Jake Klucinec followed up with a victory in the 1000-yard freestyle touching the wall at 10:36.66, while first-year David McCauley (1st, 1:48.35) and sophomore Jan Perez-Bonilla (3rd, 1:49.91) recorded two of the top-three times in the 200-yard freestyle. Perez-Bonilla recorded the top time in the 100 freestyle with a time of 49.69, while sophomore Jake Hennegan took second touching the wall at 50.54.
First-year William Cano collected the top-time in the 50-yard freestyle by defeating Cabrini's Michael Gray by two-hundredths of a second with a time of 22.10. Cano (2nd, 59.47) and first-year Francesco D'Avella (1st, 55.38) tallied the top-two times in the 100 backstroke, while junior Alex Kessel earned a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:02.94. Sophomore Kevin Sonn recorded a third-place finish in the race with a time of 22.17.
Junior Stephen Lyons (2:03.78) and senior Ryan Schreffler (2:08.21) took second and third place in the 200-yard IM, while sophomore Jonah Kasznay collected the best time in the 100-fly touching the wall at 54.51. Lyons added a fourth-place finish in the 500 free (5:15.37), while senor Ryan Carkhuff (2nd, 5:10.44) and sophomore Dylan Schreffler (3rd, 5:13.02) earned second and third place respectively.
Ursinus will return to action on Saturday, January 21st as they travel to Washington College for a Centennial Conference matchup before hosting Dickinson College on January 28th.
