GETTYSBURG, Pa. –
Sophomore Duncan Proxmire (McLean, Va./Langley) and freshman Sam Nonemaker (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) each posted two individual wins to power the Gettysburg College men's swimming team to a 158-104 victory over the University of Mary Washington at the Bullets Pool Saturday afternoon.

Fresh off its winter training trip to Barbados, Gettysburg (6-0) won three of the first four events and touched the wall first in eight events overall.

Proxmire continued his domination in the long-distance events, cruising to wins in the 1,000 free and 500 free. He led a 1-2-3 finish by the Bullets in the former event, out-running senior Ernie Ribera (Burlingame, Calif./Burlingame) by 33 seconds with a time of 9:48.33. Later in the 500, the sophomore turned in a time of 4:49.67 to beat out freshman CJ Hewitt (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan).

Nonemaker won both of his individual events and contributed to the top showing in the 400 free relay. The first-year opened the afternoon with a close win in the 200 free, edging Mary Washington's Austin Farrar by 0.43 seconds with a mark of 1:44.11. Nonemaker claimed the 50 free race by a tenth of a second over sophomore Aedan Collins (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) at 21.52.

Collins and Nonemaker swam the start and anchor, respectively, of the 400 free relay alongside sophomore Danny Petrillo (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) and junior Parker Sorenson (Evergreen, Colo./Homeschooled). The quartet came in with a time of 3:11.30 to post a three-second margin of victory.

Collins picked up a win in the 100 fly, edging senior Francisco Nieves (Alexandria, Va./Edison) by 0.24 seconds with a time of 52.44.

Sophomore Jack Freeman (Haddonfield, N.J./Pennington School) touched the wall first in the 100 back with a time of 54.89. Senior Jakob Hegna (Brielle, N.J./Manasquan) finished runner-up in both the 100 (55.82) and 200 (2:01.70) backstroke races.

Freshman Oliver Pickering (Millburn, N.J./Millburn) accounted for the final top finish for the team, beating out sophomore Jack Edelson (Charlotte, N.C./Providence Senior) in the 200 butterfly. Pickering came in at 1:56.81 followed by Edelson in 1:59.94.

Additional runner-up finishes were turned in by sophomore Oliver Yancey (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.19), Petrillo in the 100 free (48.28), and Edelson in the 200 IM (1:58.63).
