ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Top-ranked Gettysburg College broke loose for the first 11 goals and never looked back, dispatching Muhlenberg College 17-4 in a Centennial Conference women's lacrosse match up at Scotty Wood Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Gettysburg (9-0, 2-0 CC) ran its winning streak to 19 games dating back to last season, which ranks as the second-best winning streak in program history. The 2006 team won its first 21 games of the season before losing in the national championship game.
Ten Bullets found their way into the scoring column with five turning in at least two tallies. Junior
Liza Barr (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) put up at least six points for the sixth time this season, scoring three goals and dishing out three assists. She also posted two caused turnovers and two ground balls. Sophomore
Kerry McKeever (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville) tallied two goals and two assists, while junior

It only took 2:35 for Gettysburg to grab a 3-0 lead with goals by Cole, Patterson, and Barr. The Bullets dominated possession of the ball in the opening half, winning 11 of the first 12 draw controls before Muhlenberg scored a goal. McKeever and Colson scored back-to-back tallies just 16 seconds apart to make it 7-0 and an unassisted tally by Orzechowski put the margin at 11-0 with 13:03 to play.
Carson tossed in the Mules' first goal at 9:49 as the hosts posted three of the next four goals. Barr connected with freshman
Maddi Seibel (Newtown, Pa./Pennington School) just before halftime to give Gettysburg a 13-3 lead.
Muhlenberg scored the first goal of the second period, but that would be its final tally. Four different Bullets found the back of the net as the reserves made their way into the contest. Junior goalie
Casey Cole (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) turned away three shots on cage over the final 9:44.
Gettysburg held the lead in shots (33-17) and ground balls (16-12).
The Bullets meet No. 6 Franklin & Marshall College at Shadek Stadium on Wednesday, April 3, at 7 p.m. The two programs have combined to win all 17 Centennial championships since 2002, with Gettysburg claiming 10 and the Diplomats seven. The Bullets topped the Dips 15-7 in the conference championship game at Shadek last season. Franklin & Marshall holds a 33-32-1 lead in the all-time series.
