Meet Highlights
- Gettysburg only won two events on Saturday, but both came in the final events of the morning and evening sessions. In the morning, freshman Ava Collin (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga), senior Megan Wojnar (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan), senior Katherine Sears (Glenmoore, Pa./Downingtown West), and freshman Mia Yancey (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) posted the third-fastest time in program history in the 800 free relay at 7:49.37. Yancey rallied the Bullets to the win, overtaking Swarthmore's Lexi Duffy in the final 50 yards to complete the comeback.
- The Bullets wrapped up the evening session with a record-breaking performance in the 400 free relay. Yancey and Wojnar started the race and had the team positioned right behind Ursinus. Senior Cate Kosko (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury East) churned out a 52.62 split in her 100 yards to put Gettysburg in front before Collin out-dueled Sophie Lear over the final leg to pick up the win. The team's time of 3:30.84 beat the previous record of 3:32.11 set by Kosko, Wojnar, junior Grace Bobeck (Allentown, Pa./Salisbury), and Kate Crilly '20 at the 2020 Centennial Conference Championship.
- In addition to the relay wins, Collin and Yancey cracked Gettysburg's top-10 in their individual performances in the 100 free and 200 free races. In the former event, Collin settled for second behind Lear, who posted an NCAA "B" cut time of 51.67. Collin finished in 52.82 and Yancey was right behind at 52.88. That put the two first-years in fourth and fifth, respectively, in program history. Yancey led the way in the 200 free, finishing second overall in the race and posting the sixth-fastest time at Gettysburg at 1:55.60. Collin took fourth with a time of 1:56.52, which marked the 10th-best time in school history.
- Competing in her final collegiate event before graduating later this month, Sears capped her career with a pair of strong performances. After placing eighth in the 200 free (1:59.51) during the morning session, the senior turned in the second-fastest time in the 1,650 at 17:56.75. Sears wraps up her collegiate career ranking seventh in program history in the 200 free (1:55.63), seventh in the 500 free (5:09.52), fourth in the 1,000 free (10:44.14), and fifth in the 1,650 free (17:34.83).
- Wojnar posted a pair of top-three showings in the 400 IM and 200 back. The Gettysburg senior placed second in the 400 IM with a time of 4:42.73 and she was third in the 200 back with a time of 2:08.83.
- Junior Annabel Gorman (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) finished third in both the 100 fly (58.82) and the 200 fly (2:10.66).
- Freshman Olivia Pyott (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) climbed the top-10 lists in both distances of the breaststroke. In the 100, she finished fourth with the seventh-fastest time in program history (1:07.29). Pyott placed second in 2:26.57, which ranks ninth at Gettysburg. Sophomore Morgan Krepp (Bethesda, Md./Ursuline Academy (Texas)) was right behind Pyott in the 200 breaststroke in third with a time of 2:27.12.
- Swarthmore claimed the team title at the Gettysburg Invite. The Garnet won nine of the 18 events to out-pace the host Bullets.
