Men’s Golf Finishes Seventh at Mason-Dixon Classic

The Gettysburg College men's golf team finished seventh out of 18 teams at the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic hosted by McDaniel College at The Bridges Golf Club on Sunday.

Match Summary: After finishing in a tie for third following the opening round, Gettysburg dropped four spots Sunday with Centennial Conference colleagues McDaniel, Franklin & Marshall, and Swarthmore finishing ahead of the Bullets.
 
Harcourt was tied for the lead entering the final round after carding an even par 72 Saturday. He posted five birdies in the first round and added two more on Sunday on the ninth and 18th holes. The junior's eighth-place finish marked his third top-10 showing in four fall events.
 
Gettysburg's best round Sunday came from freshman Benjamin Ropiak (Cos Cob, Conn./Greenwich), who managed a 76 and finished tied for 26th overall with a total of 153. Ropiak posted five birdies in the final round, including two on the third and fourth holes. Senior Ethan Murphy (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) was the second-best finisher competing as an individual, tying for 18th overall with a 152 (73-79).
 
Rounding out the starting lineup was junior Quinn Greene (New Milford, Conn./Canterbury School) in a tie for 35th (76-78=154), junior Daniel Rieger (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) in a tie for 44th (77-79=156), and sophomore Hayden Moffat (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) in a tie for 62nd (81-80-161).
 
Next Up
Gettysburg heads to Danville, Ky., to compete in the Centre College Invitational at the Danville Country Club this Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 5-6).
