HAVERFORD, Pa.—Junior Emma Novak led Swarthmore College Women's Cross Country at the Mainline Invitational at Haverford College by finishing in second place among NCAA Division III runners. The Garnet finished in second among Division III teams with a score of 96.

Villanova finished in first overall with a perfect 15, Division III's Washington and Lee came in second, Penn took third, and then Swarthmore took fourth.

Novak darted down the straightaway to the finish line to take 12th overall and 10 points with a time of 18:10.9 in the three-mile run.

Sophomore Nora Blodgett earned 16 points with a time of 18:20.6, and Phoebe Whiteside was right behind her with a time of 18:23.5. Rose Teszler's time of 18:47.1 gave her 23 points. Freshman Tillie Ferguson provided Swarthmore's fifth score by running the course in 19:15.4.

The Garnet's top five averaged 18:36 for the 3-mile run.

Swarthmore runs at the Paul Short Run at Lehigh University on Oct. 5.
