Swarthmore Secures Top Seed in CC Baseball Tournament

The Centennial Conference baseball tournament will return to Swarthmore for the second time in conference history after the Garnet earned a split with Franklin & Marshall on Saturday to lock up the top seed in the postseason. The Garnet (21-17, 14-4 CC) and Diplomats (23-14, 14-4 CC) finished with identical conference records, but the Garnet earned the top seed via a tiebreaker. 

Swarthmore will host fourth-seeded Johns Hopkins (20-17, 10-8 CC) in Thursday's first round, while F&M will host third-seeded Washington College (24-15, 10-8 CC) in Thursday's other first round matchup. The Blue Jays clinched a playoff spot with a sweep over Haverford on Saturday, while the Shoremen locked up their first playoff appearance since 2012 with a split vs. Dickinson. Both of Thursday's opening round games are set for a first pitch of 3 p.m. 

Following the first round, the double elimination tournament will shift to Swarthmore on Saturday and Sunday. 


Thursday, May 5 at campus sites
Game 1: #4 Johns Hopkins at #1 Swarthmore, 3 p.m. 

Game 2: #3 Washington College at #2 Franklin & Marshall, 3 p.m. 

Saturday, May 7 | Swarthmore, Pa. 
Game 3: Loser of game 1 vs. Loser of game 2, 9 a.m.

Game 4: Winner of game 1 vs. Winner of game 2, not before 12:30 p.m. or 30 minutes after game 3

Game 5: Winner of game 3 vs. Loser of game 4, begins 30 minutes after game 4

Sunday, May 8 | Swarthmore, Pa. 
Game 6: Winner of game 4 vs. Winner of game 5, 12 p.m

Game 7: Championship game, if necessary, begins 30 minutes after game 6
