After earning Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Week honors earlier this week, JHU junior right-hander Kieren Collins was named NCBWA National Pitcher of the Week.

Collins made the most of his one start last week as he pitched a complete-game no-hitter in a 10-0 victory over Ramapo in the opening game of Johns Hopkins' 10-game trip to Florida.  Collins had the first batter he faced in the game reach on an error, then retired 21 consecutive batters to record the sixth solo and eighth overall no-hitter in program history.  Prior to Collins' effort, the last Johns Hopkins no-hitter had come in 2010 and the last solo no-hitter was in 2003. Collins' no-hitter is also the 17th no-hitter in the history of the Centennial Conference.

Collins struck out eight and didn't allow a walk or hit a batter in the win over the Roadrunners.  On the year, he is now 2-1 with a 3.86 ERA and 20 strikeouts against just one walk in 23.1 innings.  With his efforts this season, Collins is now 8-3 in his career with a 3.13 ERA in 86.1 innings of work; he has 87 strikeouts with just 10 walks allowed.
