Five Earn All-America Honors

2019 D3football.com All-America Team | 2019 Associated Press All-America Team

Five Centennial Conference football players were named to the 2019 D3football.com All-America team while four earned spots on the Associated Press (AP) All-America squad. Muhlenberg's Frankie Feaster, Ryan Curtiss and Ryan Malarkey and Susquehanna's Daniel Shelton received honors from both organizations, while Susquehanna's Cole Dixon was selected to the D3football.com squad.

For Muhlenberg, Feaster was a first-team selection on both teams. Curtiss was named to the AP first team and D3football.com third team, while Malarkey earned spots on the AP second team and D3football.com third team.

For Susquehanna, Shelton earned first team honors from D3football.com and second team accolades from the AP. Dixon was named to the D3football.com honorable mention team.

Feaster, previously selected to the American Football Coaches Association first team, is the fourth Mule to land on three All-America first teams in the same season, following Joshua Carter in 1999, Christopher Reed in 2002 and Curtiss last year. Feaster is the first defensive player in that group.

Curtiss, who has been named to a total of seven All-America teams in the last three years, is the first Muhlenberg player to make the D3football.com All-America team three times. Carter, a three-time selection to the Division III SIDs team, is the only other Mule to be a three-year All-American.

Malarkey earned the first All-America nods of his career, becoming the first Mule offensive lineman on the D3football.com team since Chris Radomski in 2003 and the first on the AP squad since Dave Pfund in 1987.

Feaster, the Centennial Conference and South Region defensive player of the year, ranks among the Division III leaders in both sacks (14½) and tackles for loss (26). He also blocked four kicks (three punts and an extra point) and broke up four passes for a unit that was fifth in Division III in scoring defense, allowing only 12.1 points per game. He ranks third among active Division III players with his school-record total of 34 career sacks.

Curtiss led Muhlenberg in receptions (61), receiving yards (856) and receiving touchdowns (15), breaking the school record with the latter number. He also scored two touchdowns rushing out of the wildcat formation. Curtiss led all Division III players listed as tight ends with his 15 receiving TDs, and he is the all-time CC leader in receptions (148), receiving yards (2,024) and receiving touchdowns (29) among tight ends.

Malarkey was a unanimous All-CC first-team selection and a "coach on the field" for an offense that averaged 38.4 points and 420.7 yards per game. A three-year starter at right tackle, Malarkey scored high grades every week and allowed only one sack all season. He led a line that gave up only 11 sacks.

Shelton wrapped up his senior career with three All-America selections as he was tapped for the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III Coaches All-America First Team on Dec. 4. He will leave Susquehanna with four All-America awards to his name after earning AFCA All-America Second Team honors last season.

A 5-11 defensive back, Shelton is a four-time All-Centennial Conference performer as well, including three straight appearances on First Team (2017, 2018, and 2019). As a first-year, he landed on the Second Team and was named the 2016 Centennial Rookie of the Year. This season, Shelton contributed 30 tackles, five pass breakups (15th in Centennial), 3.5 TFLs, two interceptions (11th in Centennial), two sacks, and one forced fumble. He tallied a season-high six tackles, including a season-best five solos, against Franklin & Marshall College on Sep. 28.

Shelton concludes his SU career with 177 tackles, including 7.5 TFLs, on 116 solos and 61 assists plus 36 pass breakups, nine interceptions, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 43 games played.

A 6-0 inside linebacker, Dixon is picking up his first-ever All-America award and will finish as a two-time D3football.com All-South Region selection, having been named to the Third Team in 2018 as well. He is also a three-time All-Centennial selection, gaining First Team honors this season, a Second Team nod in 2018, and Honorable Mention in 2017.

This season, Dixon was a force to be reckoned with as he led the conference with 96.0 tackles and ranked second with 58 solo tackles, third with 38 assists and three forced fumbles, fourth with 8.7 tackles per game, fifth with 15 tackles for loss, and seventh with six sacks. Dixon concludes his four-year career with 346 tackles on 199 solos and 147 assists plus 44.5 tackles for loss, 23 pass breakups, 17.5 sacks, eight forced fumbles, two interceptions, and two fumble recoveries in 43 games played.
