ABOUT THE CENTENNIAL-MAC BOWL SERIESThe Centennial Conference and the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) announced on Nov. 5, 2015 their partnership to hold two postseason football games between member institutions. The Centennial-MAC Bowl Series involves the top two teams from each conference that are not selected to the NCAA Division III Championship.
The top team from each conference that is not selected to the NCAA Division III Championship will host the second best team from the opposing conference not moving on to NCAAs in one game of the series. This season, 2016, the bowl games are scheduled for Saturday, November 19.
In the first year (11/21/15), Muhlenberg College of the Centennial Conference and Delaware Valley University of the MAC earned the top seeds and hosting rights. Muhlenberg hosted Stevenson University of the MAC, and Delaware Valley hosted Moravian of the Centennial Conference. The MAC won both games in the inaugural season. Stevenson won 14-9 (Recap | Box Score) over the Mules, while Delaware Valley won 20-16 (Recap | Box Score) over the Greyhounds.
SPECIAL OLYMPICS
The two conferences will continue to support the NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) partnership with Special Olympics by donating 25 percent of ticket revenue generated during the Bowl Series to the organization. Giving back to local and regional communities not only adds to the comprehensive learning component of Division III, but also provides a venue for passion and service.
