BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins graduate student Abby Birk has been named the NFHCA Region V Player of the Year for the second consecutive year. JHU has now produced the region player of the year in three of the last four seasons.
Birk helped the Blue Jays to their fourth straight Centennial Conference (CC) Championship, fourth straight NCAA Final Four and second straight appearance in the national title game. Hopkins finished the season with a 19-4 record – the fourth straight season with at least 19 wins.
A four-time NFHCA All-Region selection, Birk led Hopkins and ranked third in the Centennial Conference with 36 points (13 goals, 10 assists). She also led the team and was second in the conference in assists. Birk's 13 goals are a career high and were second best on the team. She led the team and the conference with six game-winning goals.
Birk finished her career as the program's all-time leader in assists (44), game-winning goals (14), games played (90) and games started (84). She also ranks second in points with 128 and third in goals with 42.
