Centennial Conference Athletes of the Week - Apr. 26 - May 2

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Last week marked the final week of the regular season for the majority of Centennial Conference spring sports, with champions being determined in softball, women's lacrosse, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's outdoor track & field and women's outdoor track & field. Several baseball and men's lacrosse teams will wrap up their regular seasons this week. 

Conference award winners from last week's action include Jakob Hoffman and Kyle Roche from Franklin & Marshall baseball, Grace Moery and Lexi Barhart from Washington College softball, Hakan Atillasoy and Chris Porzelt from Ursinus men's lacrosse, Kealey Allison from McDaniel women's lacrosse, Tabitha Rodriguez from F&M women's lacrosse, Vishnu Joshi from Johns Hopkins men's tennis, and Sophia Strickland from Johns Hopkins women's tennis.

BASEBALL

Player of the Week
Jakob Hoffman, Fr., INF, Franklin & Marshall
Middletown, Del. | Caravel Academy
Hoffman batted .625 and got on a base at a .667 clip as the Diplomats swept Gettysburg to remain in the hunt for the Centennial Conference title. Of Roche's five hits, three were triples as he also drove in two runs and scored three more during the doubleheader. The freshman posted a 1.375 slugging percentage for the week. 
 
Pitcher of the Week 
Kyle Roche, Jr., RHP, Franklin & Marshall
Sandy Hook, Conn. | Newtown
Roche ran his season record to a perfect 6-0 through six starts with a seven-inning three-hitter at Gettysburg. Roche struck out 12 and allowed just two unearned runs in the outing. Roche has a 0.95 ERA and is striking out 11.61 batters per nine innings this season.

SOFTBALL
 
Player of the Week
Grace Moery, Sr., OF, Washington College
Alexandria, Va. | West Potomac
Moery hit .625 (5-for-8) in the Shorewomen's road doubleheader sweep of Dickinson on Saturday. In game one, she went 3-for-4 with two triples and two runs scored. In game one, she ignited a five-run top of the seventh inning to break a 2-2 tie with a leadoff triple in a 7-2 win. She also swiped a base in the win. In game two, she went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored in a 5-1 victory. She slugged 1.125 with her nine total bases.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Lexi Barnhart, Fr., P, Washington College
West Grove, Pa. | Avon Grove
Barnhart repeats as Pitcher of the Week after going 2-0 with a 1.00 ERA in notching both wins in a sweep of host Dickinson on Saturday. In game one, she went the entire way, scattering four hits with seven strikeouts in a 7-2 win. Barnhart retired 10 of the last 11 hitters she faced. In game two's 5-1 win, she did not give up an earned run and fanned four on her way to earning her 10th win.

MEN'S LACROSSE
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Hakan Atillasoy, Sr., A, Ursinus
Haverford, Pa. | Harriton
Atillasoy produced five goals and six assists in a 2-0 week for the 15th-ranked Bears. He scored four goals against Muhlenberg, including the game-tying goal with 12.8 seconds left in regulation and the winner in double OT, before dishing out five helpers to go with a goal in Saturday's 17-7 win at McDaniel.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Chris Porzelt, Jr., GK, Ursinus
Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y. | Cold Spring Harbor
Porzelt racked up a career-high 19 saves in Wednesday's 13-12 victory over Muhlenberg in double overtime, helping the Bears stave off the upset bid. He finished with four saves in 41 minutes of work against McDaniel on Saturday, finishing the week with a 9.03 goals against average. 

WOMEN'S LACROSSE
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Kealey Allison, Jr., M, McDaniel
Frankford, Del. | Indian River
Allison led the Green Terror to a 19-15 win over Ursinus on Saturday. She turned in a career day, tying her career high with eight goals. She also added a career-high four assists for a program-record-tying 12 points on the day. Allison took over late in the game, having a hand in the final seven McDaniel goals. She also had five draw controls and a ground ball.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Tabitha Rodriguez, Jr., M, Franklin & Marshall
Downingtown, Pa. | Downingtown Stem Academy
Rodriguez collected 13 draw controls, caused three turnovers, and scooped up three ground balls during a 2-0 week for No. 1 F&M. Rodriguez had her biggest outing in the 17-14 win against No. 5 Gettysburg with seven draw controls, two caused turnovers, and two ground balls as the Diplomats claimed their eighth Centennial Conference Championship during the past 14 seasons. She also scored three goals from her spot in the midfield, including two against the Bullets.

MEN'S TENNIS

Player of the Week
Vishnu Joshi, Sr., Johns Hopkins
Skillman, N.J. | Montgomery
Joshi went 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles to lead Johns Hopkins to wins over Muhlenberg and Christopher Newport. He won 8-5 at second doubles and then 6-1, 6-1 at first singles against the Mules as the Blue Jays won the Centennial Conference Championship outright. On Sunday, Joshi won 8-2 at third doubles and then 6-2, 6-2 at first singles against the Captains.

WOMEN'S TENNIS

Player of the Week
Sophia Strickland, Gr., Johns Hopkins
Alpharetta, Ga. | Wesleyan School
Strickland went a combined 4-0 to lead Johns Hopkins to a pair of wins and the outright Centennial Conference Championship. She won 8-0 at two doubles against Muhlenberg to earn her 100th career win. Strickland then won 6-1, 6-0 at third singles. On Sunday, she won 8-1 at second doubles and then 6-1, 6-1 at fourth singles to clinch Hopkins' win at Christopher Newport, ranked third in the Atlantic South.
