Scholar-Athletes of the Year | Academic All-Centennial Team | Academic Honor Roll
LANCASTER, Pa. -- The Centennial Conference has released its Winter 2022 Academic Honorees including Scholar-Athletes of the Year, the Academic All-Centennial Team, and the Academic Honor Roll. A total of 644 student-athletes were honored in the sports of men's and women's basketball, men's and women's indoor track & field, men's and women's swimming, and wrestling.
Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors were awarded in each sport to a member of the junior or senior class with the highest cumulative GPA on the All-Centennial Team. Ursinus' Sophie Lear and Johns Hopkins' Sydney Friedel headline the list of Scholar-Athletes of the Year. Lear became the 14th athlete in conference history to receive both Athlete of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year accolades in the same season. The senior is also the first women's swimmer to achieve the prestigious honor for performance in the pool and the classroom. Friedel collected Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors for the second time this year after also winning the award in cross country. The junior is the 22nd athlete in CC history to claim multiple Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards.
The Winter Academic All-Centennial Team consisted of 111 student-athletes. To be nominated for the Academic All-Centennial Team a student-athlete must receive both All-Conference and Academic Honor Roll honors.
A total of 644 student-athletes were honored on the Winter Academic Honor Roll. To be nominated for the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing and attain a cumulative grade point average of 3.40 or higher.
