Centennial Conference Athletes of the Week - Dec. 6-12

LANCASTER, Pa. -- The fall semester is winding down as only a handful of Centennial Conference teams competed last week in basketball, wrestling, and indoor track & field. With a limited number of contests throughout the conference over the next several weeks, this will mark the final weekly awards of 2021 for most sports. 

Weekly award winners for Dec. 6-12 are Josh Love of Haverford men's basketball, Tara Szawaluk of Muhlenberg women's basketball, Dominick Esposito of Merchant Marine wrestling, Rachel Conhoff of Ursinus women's track & field, and Margaret Hardigg of Bryn women's track & field.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
  
Player of the Week
Josh Love, Jr., G, Haverford
Mill Valley, Calif. | Tamalpais
Love averaged 16.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in Haverford's two victories last week over Drew and Gettysburg. The junior guard opened the week with a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double in a 73-66 win against Drew. In a comeback CC victory over Gettysburg, Love tallied 18 points and seven boards and hit a huge three-pointer to give the Fords the lead for good with under a minute left as the Fords erased a 10-point deficit in the final five minutes. He averaged 3.0 three-pointers per game, hitting at a 50% clip from downtown. 
 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
 
Player of the Week
Tara Szawaluk, Sr., G, Muhlenberg
Glen Rock, N.J. | Glen Rock
Szawaluk scored a season-high 17 points on the strength of 5-of-6 shooting from three-point range to lead the Mules past Moravian, 79-60. Szawaluk, who came into the game with two made three-pointers all season, was 5-for-5 from behind the arc in the second half, when Muhlenberg outscored Moravian 51-31 to break open a close game. Szawaluk also recorded a season-high five assists, three rebounds and a steal in the victory. 
  

WRESTLING
 
Athlete of the Week
Dominick Esposito, Sr., 174, Merchant Marine
Marlboro, N.J. | Colts Neck
Esposito won the 174-pound bracket with a 3-0 record at the Nassau Open on Sunday. He picked up two pins over Division I wrestlers, including one against a 2021 Division I NCAA Qualifier from Hofstra in the semifinals.
 

Women's Indoor Track & Field
Track Athlete of the Week
Rachel Conhoff, Jr., Ursinus
Christiansted, Virgin Islands | Good Hope Country Day School
Conhoff won the 5,000-meter race at the Bow Tie Invitational on Friday night. She won the race with a career-best time of 18:47.44, which ranks 22nd in Division III this season. 
 
Women's Indoor Track & Field
Field Athlete of the Week
Margaret Hardigg, Jr., Bryn Mawr
Newton Upper Falls, Mass. | Buckingham Brown & Nichols
For the second straight week, Hardigg reset her own school record in the high jump, as the junior took the win in the event at the Bow Tie Classic at Ursinus. Hardigg has now topped the five-foot mark two weeks in a row, as she set a new program best at 1.55 meters to take the win in the event. She is now tied for third among the top performances in the conference and ranks 41st nationally this season.
