Centennial Conference Athletes of the Week - Feb. 28 - March 6

LANCASTER, Pa. -- The calendar has now flipped to March, meaning that the majority of spring sports are now in full swing with NCAA winter championships still upcoming in wrestling, indoor track & field, and swimming. This week's Centennial awards include baseball, softball, men's and women's lacrosse, and men's and women's tennis. 

Dickinson men's lacrosse goalkeeper Chris Brandau leads this week's award winners as the first repeat player of the week of the spring season. Other award recipients for the week of Feb. 28-March 6 include Cole Hare of Dickinson baseball, Quinn Rovner of Muhlenberg baseball, Jamie Belfer of Franklin & Marshall softball, Lexi Barnhart of Washington College softball, Tyler Neal of Ursinus men's lacrosse, Sam Silverman of Haverford women's lacrosse, Alexa Machado of Ursinus women's lacrosse, Karl Hoegstedt and Irene Meng of Washington College tennis.

Baseball 
Player of the Week
Cole Hare, Sr., OF, Dickinson
Pennington, N.J. | Hopewell Valley
Hare clubbed three home runs and drove home seven runs during the Red Devils' two-game sweep over Penn St.-Mont Alto on Saturday. He also drew four walks and added a stolen base to his batting ledger. During the twinbill he went 3-for-6 with three homers, four runs scored, seven RBIs and four walks with a slash line of .500 / .700 / 2.000. 
 
Baseball 
Pitcher of the Week
Quinn Rovner, Jr., RHP, Muhlenberg 
Blue Bell, Pa. | Wissahickon 
Rovner pitched six scoreless innings to earn his second victory of the season in a 13-1 win in the first game of the Albright doubleheader. Rovner allowed three hits and struck out a career-high seven. He faced only two batters over the minimum and did not allow a runner past second base.
  

Softball
Player of the Week
Jamie Belfer, Sr., OF, Franklin & Marshall
Berkley Heights, N.J. | Governor Livingston
Belfer led the Diplomats to a 6-2 week, registering at least two hits and a run scored in all eight contests. The senior outfielder went 21-of-34 at the plate for a .618 batting average with 16 runs scored, eight stolen bases, and seven RBIs. Batting from the leadoff position, four of Belfer's 21 hits were doubles, giving her a .735 slugging percentage for the week. 
 
Softball
Pitcher of the Week
Lexi Barnhart, So., P, Washington College
West Grove, Pa. | Avon Grove
Barnhart allowed just one run in eight innings in the Shorewomen's doubleheader sweep of host Immaculata on Wednesday. In game one, she went the entire way, allowing six hits, one run and striking out four. The sophomore also tossed the final inning in game two, striking out one. 
 

Men's Lacrosse
Offensive Player of the Week
Tyler Neal, Jr., A, Ursinus
Pittstown, N.J. | Delaware Valley Regional
Neal recorded six points behind five goals and one assist in the Bears 13-9 win over Montclair State on Wednesday afternoon. He scored the majority of his goals when Ursinus needed him the most as he recorded three in the fourth quarter when the Bears out-scored the Red Hawks 5-1. He also added six ground balls in the win.
 
Men's Lacrosse
Defensive Player of the Week
Chris Brandau, Jr., GK, Dickinson
Timonium, Md. | Boys' Latin 
Brandau continues to be a main catalyst for the Red Devils 4-0 start as he allowed just two goals over the opening three quarters while recording double-digit saves for the third time this season in a 9-7 win over 10th-ranked Cabrini on Saturday afternoon at Biddle Field. Brandau made 14 stops for a 66.7% save percentage in Dickinson's lone contest of the week. 
 

Women's Lacrosse
Offensive Player of the Week
Sam Silverman, Jr., A, Haverford
Catonsville, Md. | The Bryn Mawr School
Silverman was everywhere for the Fords in a 15-12 triumph over Scranton, tallying two goals and five assists for a seven-point performance against the Royals. Silverman also collected four ground balls and caused a turnover in the victory. Three of Silverman's assists came in the decisive fourth quarter, including the helper on Nancy Tucker's eventual game-winning score with 7:09 remaining. 
 
Women's Lacrosse
Defensive Player of the Week
Alexa Machado, Jr., GK, Ursinus
Fountainville, Pa. | Pennridge
Machado tallied 12 saves and allowed just nine goals in the Bears 13-9 win over Arcadia on Saturday. Machado faced 30 total shots with 21 going on net, posting a 57.1% save percentage. She also led the team with a team-high five ground balls in the win.
 

Men's Tennis
Player of the Week
Karl Hoegstedt, Jr., Washington College
West Chester, Pa. | B. Reed Henderson
Hoegstedt went 2-0 at both No. 1 singles and doubles this weekend in a 2-1 week for the Shoremen. In singles on Saturday, he won 8-3 over Stevenson's Larry Johnson III and on Sunday, he topped Stevens' Marc Feliu, 6-2, 6-2. In doubles, he teamed up with Andrew Smith to down Wilkes' John Toussaint and Cole Gibson, 8-1, and on Sunday they topped Stevens' Keegan Morris and Olof Persson, 8-2.
 

Women's Tennis
Player of the Week
Irene Meng, Jr., Washington College
Surrey, B.C., Canada | Pacific Academy
Meng went 3-0 at both No. 1 singles and doubles over the weekend as the Shorewomen went 3-0 as a team. In singles on Saturday, she swept Wilkes' Dasha Yakhnis, 4-2, 4-1, and won 8-1 over Stevenson's Torrienne Emery. On Sunday, Meng swept Steve's Agatha Malinowski, 6-1, 6-2. In doubles, the junior teamed up with Piper Sartiston to top the duo of Tea Amerise and Cassidy Greenman of Wilkes, 8-2, and later in the day, they bested the tandem of Torrienne Emery and Alexandria Kramer from Stevnson, 8-1. On Sunday, they got past Stevens' two-some of Isabella Dona and Audrey Heaberlin, 8-5.
